Peter Piper Pizza has closed after just one year at Ward Parkway Center.
Its last day at 8809 State Line Road was June 30, a spokesperson from its parent company, CEC Entertainment, confirmed Tuesday.
Chuck E. Cheese, the children’s pizza place also owned by CEC Entertainment, will take over the space later this year.
“It will feature a curated menu, its iconic video games, pizza and birthday parties, and we look forward to sharing more details as we get closer to opening in the fall of 2024,” the CEC spokesperson said.
The Ward Parkway Chuck E. Cheese will be the fifth in the Kansas City area. The other locations are 10510 Metcalf Lane in Overland Park, 15225 W. 134th Place in Olathe, 9196 N. Skyview Ave. in the Northland, and 18701 E. 39th St. S. in Independence.
CEC Entertainment has been transforming its Chuck E. Cheese restaurants across the nation, hauling away the animatronic figures it was once known for and emphasizing video games and a dance floor. The last remaining animatronic Chuck E. mouse in the Kansas City area will soon leave the Independence location.
Peter Piper Pizza, an “eatertainment” restaurant that specializes in hand-tossed pizzas but also has arcade games, also recently closed its only other metro area location, at 15139 W. 119th St. in Olathe.
