The long-anticipated, 95,000-square-foot H-E-B is set to open in Meyerland Plaza on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The location at 4700 Beechnut St. comes at a good time, just days ahead of the Sunday, Feb. 2, Super Bowl and soon after Belden’s Food Market, a store that had been a local mainstay in the Jewish community closed earlier this month, leaving a void.
“This store will cater to the diverse needs of the entire Meyerland community,” said Lisa Helfman, director of H-E-B Public Affairs Houston in an email. “We look forward to returning to a neighborhood we have been a part of for more than 25 years and ‘re-serving’ this community in a bigger, better way.”
The H-E-B at Braeswood and Chimney Rock served the Meyerland community for years but closed permanently in October 2017 after flooding during Hurricane Harvey.
The two-story store will offer a large mix of freshness and convenience, at H-E-B's characteristic low prices. Aside from a wide assortment of H-E-B’s normal offerings, Kosher amenities will include a bakery and meat market, sushi and juices, a cafe and sandwiches and dry, frozen, dairy and deli products. Additionally, there will be flowers, Cooking Connection, Meal Simple and Curbside.
