Five Below marked the opening of its 1,000th store in the U.S. on Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at Brookhollow Marketplace, a development of Fidelis at 4500 Dacoma in northwest Houston.
Five Below, a retailer of trendy merchandise for pre-teens and teens, opened its 1,000th store nationwide at Brookhollow Marketplace, a new shopping center in northwest Houston.
The Philadelphia-based retailer, which entered the Houston market in 2014 with eight locations, has grown to 15 stores in the metro area and 111 across Texas, its largest presence in any state. Five Below opened its first store in Wayne, Pa. in 2002 and operates in 39 states.
In conjunction with the opening, Five Below announced its 850,000-square-foot distribution center in Conroe began shipping merchandise July 20. The distribution center, which employs 115 people, serves more than 170 stores in the Texas, Southwest, and West Coast markets.
Five Below joins Burlington as one of the earliest tenants to open at Brookhollow Marketplace, a 200,000-square-foot development of Fidelis Realty Partners at 4500 Dacoma. The center is off U.S. 290 just outside Loop 610 on the site of the former Exxon Brookhollow campus.
Officials from Five Below, Fidelis and the city of Houston marked the grand opening at the center Friday morning.
“We couldn't be more excited to reach this incredible company milestone,” George Hill, executive vice president of retail operations at Five Below, said in an announcement. “Our goal has always been to wow customers everywhere by offering high-quality merchandise at an extreme, unbeatable value and by giving back to the communities we serve across the country.”
Five Below's colorful stores sell a changing assortment of merchandise, mostly priced from $1 to $5. Items include cell phone cases, room décor, pet products, yoga pants, graphic tees, basketballs and seasonal items, among other things.
Brookhollow Marketplace is one of the largest retail centers to open in Houston in 2020. Five Below will soon open in another new development, The Grand at Aliana, at the Grand Parkway and West Airport in Richmond.
