Rapid City, S.D. (KOTA) -
Book lovers will find a new Barnes and Noble bookstore in Rapid City this summer.
The new Rapid City location is only one of more than 60 different stores the company is opening throughout the U.S. this year.
The Barnes and Noble Vice President of Store Planning and Design, Janine Flanigan, said with only one store location in South Dakota, they wanted to grow their presence in as many places as possible.
The company’s real estate team was seeking communities in need of a bookstore and felt Rapid City was an ideal location. She added there were different factors that were analyzed before Barnes and Noble decided to open a store in Rapid City.
“They’re looking at what the traffic patterns are, ‘Is there traffic to the store? Can we be a gathering place for a community? What does the parking look like? What does the community look like? Do we think we’ll get the traffic? Will we get enough foot traffic?‘” Flanigan said.
The bookstore coming to Eglin Street at Rushmore Crossing will be 22,000 square feet.
The store is expected to open in July.
