The Camp Strake property that sold last year to a local master-planned development firm will be much more than a traditional community of single-family housing with grocery stores and strip malls around the perimeter.
“We’re rethinking the land uses and considering a mix of uses at the interior of the property,” said Doug Goff, chief operating officer of the Johnson Development Corp., which bought the 2,083-acre Montgomery County property from the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
The company is now considering a mixed-use village concept for the project, with specialty retail and restaurants, hotels and conference facilities, along with a variety of housing types.
