Texans-branded Gym Opens in Meyerland

The Houston Texans, in partnership with fitness company M6, opened Texans Fit last week in Meyerland

It’s the first Houston location within the beltway for the gym chain. M6, which operates other gyms across the country that are connected to local football teams, is also behind gym chains Crunch and UFC.

Texans Fit locations are roughly 25,000 to 30,000 square feet, though the Meyerland location is the brand’s largest. They employ roughly 100 each, and NewQuest Properties was the broker on the first three locations. Memberships range from roughly $48 a month to $108. Beyond the Meyerland location, more locations in Katy and Rosenberg opened late last year.

The gyms have an indoor, 40-yard turf for mock football drills, designed to look like customers are inside a stadium. They offer classes in Pilates, hot yoga, barre, cardio and more, as well as personal training.

The Texans don’t have a goal as far as further locations, only that more are planned.

“We’re continuing to explore additional opportunities, I would anticipate that under the right scenarios, we may have more facilities here in our community in the next 12 to 18 months," said David Fletcher, general manager of Lone Sports Entertainment. "It’s really something that we are going to continue to look at as ways to connect with fans and extend our brand beyond game day.”

The Houston gym, along with other locations in Katy and Rosenberg, is the first investment opportunity for the Houston Texans, Fletcher said.

While conversations about extending the Texans’ brand started in 2019, the pandemic created real estate opportunities, Fletcher said. The Meyerland Texans Fit, at 8650 Endicott Lane, is a former 24 Hour Fitness, which closed locations nationwide amid the pandemic and a subsequent bankruptcy.

The Texans are seeking other investment opportunities that fit its brand, though Fletcher was unable to go into further detail.

“We’re looking for ways to extend our brand and do that in a meaningful way. We continue to look at opportunities that are here locally, that have an impact in a positive way on the local community," Fletcher said. "I think the opportunities for it to be core to our business, when you look at Texans Fit, it extends into our business both from being able to connect with our fans in the marketplace on a consistent basis and being able to create excitement around it. Then, obviously from a core operation, fitness and health are very important to our business."
