BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - McAlister’s Deli — an Atlanta-based chain with several spots in the metro — is opening another location in the Kansas City area. The Blue Springs deli has soft opened at 1221 NE Coronado Drive and will celebrate its grand opening Monday.

Once the doors open at 10:30 a.m. on grand opening day, the first 100 customers will receive a free club sandwich every week for a year. (Guests must be McAlister’s rewards members to participate.)

McAlister’s Deli serves sandwiches, subs, wraps, melts, salads and more.

Its four-cheese melt, harvest chicken salad, grilled chicken sandwich and sweet tea are popular menu items. The chain was founded in Mississippi in 1989. Today, it’s owned by GoTo Foods, an Atlanta brand that operates Schlotzky’s, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s and Jamba Juice.

Other area spots include Shawnee at 11330 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Grandview at 12406 S. U.S. Highway 71, and Independence at 19130 E. 39th St.

Blue Springs has seen a few other chains drop anchor in the past several months. Swig and Tim Horton’s chose to open their first Kansas City metro locations in Blue Springs. Both are less than 2 miles from the new McAlister’s Deli.

Hyper Energy Bar — an Iowa-based coffee and energy drink drive-thru — is planning several Kansas City area spots, one of which will also be in Blue Springs in the Adams Dairy Landing shopping center.
