Nordstrom Rack
Across the street from the mall, Nordstrom Rack is setting up shop at Baybrook Square - adding to the area's bustling retail market.
The 31,000-square-foot store is set to open next spring - and will be the fifth location of the off-price retail division to open in the greater Houston area.
"We select locations where there is an opportunity to serve more customers, and we want our stores to be as convenient and accessible as possible," Nordstrom spokesperson Naomi Tobis said.
"We're happy that this new location will bring a Nordstrom Rack closer to home for customers in the Clear Lake area and the surrounding southeast suburbs of Houston."
Nordstrom Rack offers customers a selection of apparel, accessories and shoes at an everyday savings of 30-to-70 percent off regular prices.
The new Nordstrom Rack will move into the space that was occupied by the DSW shoe store, which relocated within the shopping center.
Baybrook Square, located at the southwest corner of Interstate 45 and West Bay Area Boulevard, is managed by Fidelis Realty Partners.
Lynn Davis, co-founder and principal of Fidelis, said Baybrook Square was originally anchored by a Target.
"It moved down the street to become a Super Target," she said.
"We redeveloped the shopping center and the Target space."
Fidelis has re-energized the shopping center and brought in several new tenants.
Now the space is almost 100 percent leased.
"We looked for anchors that were not in the community," Davis said.
"And we looked for stores that the community would like. Now it stays well-leased. It's in a great area."
The 295,000 square foot center has more than 30 tenants including Old Navy, DSW, Marshalls HomeGoods, Sun & Ski Sports and Office Depot.
