H-E-B will build a supermarket at the southwest southeast corner of San Felipe and Fountainview and close its nearby store at Fountainview and Westheimer, the company announced today.

The projected opening date for the new store is fall 2014.

“It will give us an opportunity to build a newer and larger store for the residents in that area,” said Cyndy Garza Roberts, H-E-B Houston’s director of public affairs.

Commercial developer Fidelis Realty Partners purchased the property, which currently houses the Tanglewood Court apartments, and contacted H-E-B to see if the grocer would be interested in leasing the property, according to a statement from H-E-B.

Fidelis will be H-E-B’s landlord.

Fidelis has been responsible for communicating with Tanglewood Court apartment residents, according to the H-E-B release.

The San Antonio-based grocer is in the process of designing the new store, which will be modeled on the format of the Montrose Market H-E-B store at West Alabama and Dunlavy, Garza Roberts said. Designed by Lake/Flato Architects, the Montrose store recently received two awards from the Urban Land Institute.

The H-E-B release did not say when the Fountainview-and-Westheimer store will close.
