RANDY EVANS TO CONSULT ON NEW H-E-B RESTAURANT

Today Evans told Food Chronicles that he has been hired by H-E-B to consult on an in-house restaurant in the H-E-B supermarket going up on the corner of San Felipe and Fountain View in the Galleria neighborhood. It will be the first H-E-B store in Houston with its own restaurant (the San Antonio-based grocery giant currently has restaurants in two stores – one in Austin and one in San Antonio – with plans to do six such concepts by end of 2016).

The H-E-B restaurant doesn’t have a name yet, but the store is expected to open in late January or early February, Evans said. With 80 seats inside and the same number on the patio, the restaurant will serve wine and beer in addition to food. Evans’ menu plans include barbecue, smoked seafood, good fish, whole roasted prime rib, in-house ground burgers, and lots of salad.
