Capetillo highlighted the redevelopment of the San Jacinto Mall. The newly elected mayor said Phase I of the mall demolition has begun. There will be about eight weeks of asbestos abatement on the north side before crews begin taking down the walls.
"The folks at Fidelis have been good partners, and we talk about once a week at least," Capetillo said. "But please bear with us. I know it is taking a long time, but we will have a new retail center here soon."
